Gold star and high fives

Recently I have seen a lot of critiscism and backlash and “yeahbutnobutyeahbut” on Twitter and facebook and places about WHO PARENTS BEST.

Ok. To summarise. Unless you are physically or emotionally or psychologically harming your child, you are doing WHAT IS BEST FOR YOUR CHILD.

It doesn’t matter what Parent A or Parent F or Parent Z says about their techniques for raising their child, YOU ARE DOING WHAT IS BEST FOR YOUR CHILD.

It doesn’t matter what science or studies or literature or government stats or the Bible or parenting books say, YOU ARE DOING WHAT IS BEST FOR YOUR CHILD.

No, wait. I am wrong. You are not doing what is best for your child…you are doing what is best for your child and for YOU.

So, lets all have a cuddle.

    Yo.
I know you don’t like me bringing my worky stuff into your blogs, but you’re right. I did some training today around, which looked at ‘Good Enough’ parenting. More buzz words… anyhoo yeah, raising another being is like the hardest thing in. the. world. to do so all one can do is try their best – most of the time. And make sure there are ‘protective factors’ to enable the child to be emotionally stimulated somehow, from someone… ok I’m off now. Sorry! 😀

Well said Hannah ;0) I struggle with this all the time. As a parent of 10 weeks now i have a constant argument (and huge amounts of guilt) with myself over what is best for Summer. But have come to conclusion that she is happy and healthy so I’m obviously doing something right. You are fab!!! xxx
